Continuous Professional Development
Whatever stage you’re at in your teaching career, Nottingham schools will work with you to enhance your skills to achieve your personal ambitions and to get the best results for your students and school. Professional development opportunities will be designed to develop a teacher from initial teacher training and induction, through to Middle and Senior Leadership or Headship.
Nottingham Schools have excellent internal CPD structures- using various approaches and accreditations and many offer international or subject based research project opportunities. All of our schools are part of a network- whether a Teaching School Alliance, partnership, academy group, or trust. This means there is huge scope for working with colleagues in other schools to develop practice and knowledge. Nottingham schools have a strong tradition of collaboration.
Are you aspiring to move into school leadership? You might have the option to access accredited programmes, or complete the National College for Teaching and Leadership programmes:
- National Professional Qualification for Middle Leadership (NPQML)
- National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL), or
- National Professional Qualification for Headship NPQH.
There are always opportunities to develop your own skills and knowledge, and sometimes external grants are available for teachers to carry out CPD activity. Many of our teachers have done international study visits, conducted teaching research or accessed industry placements.
